March 6, 2013

Teenage boys bedrooms are not always the most organized, yet they often have many items that need to be organized. We have three tips to help you get your tech oriented teenage boy get a little more organized. The iPods, iPads, stereos, speaker systems, laptops, tablets, cameras, and cell phones all need places to call home. By taking a step back and accessing the actual size of your teenage boy’s bedroom, it will be much easier to tackle this project.

Our first design idea is one that will transform the whole space. Purchase or construct book cases to go on each side of the bed. You may be able to find book cases at a local thrift shop and paint them in colors that work well in your teenage boy’s bedroom. These book cases will offer a nice place for books, as well as your teenage boy’s tablet and/or cell phone. You may want an outlet near both of these book cases. If an outlet is not present, it will be worth installing electrical outlets in this area of your teenage boy’s bedroom. Depending on the size of this book case, your teenage boy may opt to use this area to store other tech items as well.

Our second design idea is one that Mom’s everywhere will appreciate. Take one wall in your teenage boy’s bedroom and transform it into an office area. Build a built in desk area, with shelving and storage surrounding the desk are. At the end of this wall, install a laundry shoot. This will take care of all of those dirty clothes that are tossed all over the floor. Install several electrical outlets on the top of this desk area. This offers a nice charging station, as well as a nice work space. This also means, the desk needs to be a nice size. Again, access the total space that you have before you tackle this project. Once you are done, your teenage boy will have the sleekest looking bedroom in the neighborhood.

Our third design idea is a fun design. Invest in a loft area. Move the bed to towards the ceiling and this will open a nice, large area in your teenage boy’s bedroom. This gives you the opportunity to install a charging station. Design a charging station on a table that sits in the middle of the room. This offers a great place for your teenage boy and friends to gather. Make sure the table is large enough for a laptop, a tablet, an iPod, and at least two cell phones to charge. A design like this will work well in large and small bedrooms. What makes this design so much fun is the fact that it’s a little different than a normal teenage boys bedroom.

These are just three simple design ideas for your teenage boy’s bedroom. Depending on the tech needs of your teenage boy, you may opt to use bits and pieces of each of these design ideas. Technology is changing fast and our teens just need a little help along the way keeping things organized.

Once you have made the design updates to your teenage boy’s bedroom, you may find you want to change up the floor. A simple way to change it up is to install laminate flooring.
