We recently installed swiss made laminate flooring in Colonial Hickory. It’s a large surface, and turned out beautifully A dream family room. Then a torential downpour, and poured into the family room. The floor warped, but did not come up or buckle. We have dried it out the best we could. My question is this: Will it ever “unwarp” or flatten out again? I have heard conflicting reports. We have mopped up all the water, dried out-using fans, heaters, and dehumidifiers. The floor no longer has an odor. Will it dry out completely to a usable floor, or will it have to be replaced? Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. Cathy, Once the laminate is exposed to excess amounts of water and it starts to warp then there is no going back. The core of the plank actually swells up and once wood swells it will not regain its pre-swollen shape. At this point you will need to replace the floor unfortunately. If there isn’t a ton of warped boards then you may be able to do a repair to replace the really bad boards but there is no way for me to tell without seeing the damage. Good Luck.
